Baby Friendly Program establish at Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital has been recognized and was officiated by Dato 'Chua Jui Ming, Minister of Health Malaysia on 6 November 1997.
HPSF to date has received four times the Baby Friendly Hospital accreditation which in:
- 1997-2000
- 2000-2003
- 2003-2006
- 2006 - February 26, 2009

- To help and guide the mothers in the breastfeeding operates continuously in the ward and when the mothers leave the hospital.
- Create a discussion and explanation of the problem by telephone to encourage mothers improve breastfeeding practices.
- Help foster and build confidence to parents and family members and community about the importance of breast milk method

Education Talks
In obstetric wards, mothers will be given education and guidance together with proper feeding techniques to helps them breastfeed.Talks on breastfeeding are also given to mothers during antenatal clinic and the antenatal hospitalization.
Talks to postnatal mothers are also given in the ward before the mother returned home. They are also encouraged to breast-feed exclusively for 6 months and continue until 2 years. Complementary foods at the start when the baby was 6 months.
Support Group Meeting
Meeting were held to discuss the planning of activities to be carried out and implemented, and to get support from support groups memmbers to ensure the success of the breastfeeding continues.
Lactation Management Course
This course is conducted continuously. For the year 2009 this course was held by three times.

A total of 97 participants attend the course. The participants were medical officers, dietetic officer, pharmacists, nurses and also staff from the various.
This is to ensure that all staff in the HPSF have gained exposure, guidance and education on breastfeeding and Baby Friendly hospital.
Meanwhile, the lactation strengthening course were also conducted. The participants are from O & G Staff and Peadiatrician.
This course is conducted so that all staff review and strengthen the knowledge of breastfeeding.
