Information

Department of surgery serves general surgery service and at the same time, serves as a reference for Hospital Tangkak, Batu Pahat and Segamat. The department is also carrying out ERCP procedures, Endoscopy and Colonoscopy. Team members for the department consist of three surgeons, six medical officers, 11 Sisters.

In 2009, the number of patients in the Surgical Specialist (SOPD) and Breast Clinic (PDC) is 11,167 people. Total patients were 9230 SOPD patients while a total of 1937 patients with PDC.

Breast Clinic or PDC began service in 1996. These services include early detection, treatment, education and prevention. In 2009 the number of patients increased by 1937 compared with 1638 people in 2008.
This data shows an increase of 299 patients.

The department also involved in the in-house training programs for medical students from colleges and universities, especially the Malacca-Manippal Medical College. The department also held a monthly meeting on Thursday the first week of every two months to discuss the problems faced and how to overcome. In addition, the MS ISO quality objectives and indicators NIA also discussed.

In 2009, SOPD has organized circumcision courses (Religious Circumcission) and a mass circumcision program for hospital staff children. It was held at October 9,2009, and December 11, 2009.

5. Ensure that patients requiring immediate surgery (emergency cases) are fit enough to face health risks through surgery.

6. Ensure that patients requiring immediate surgery are prioritized.

7. Provide treatment that emphasized caring, teamwork and always ensure a high level of professionalism among all personnel.

Client Charter

We promise:
   1. To provide proper treatment in accordance with the colour card as follows:
    * Red (E1): To receive immediate treatment for cases of severe injury, chest pain, sudden cardiac and other critical cases (about 5 minutes).
    
* Yellow (E2): Received partial treatment of cases requiring critical care within 30-60 minutes.
    * Green (N3): Cases that are not critical and can be seen within 1-2 hours.

   2. Convey accurate information to patients from time to time and keep them confidential. 
   3. Provide emergency teams and equipment in 5 minutes.
   4. Handling customer complaints within 24 hours

Surgery Specialists Clinic:

* Check-up and outpatient treatment.

 * Appointments for new cases, follow-up cases, mammogram, ultrasound, endoscope, ERCP, contrast medium, and others.

 * Circumcision during school holidays.

 * Place & Time of operation: a. Polyclinic Building, First Floor, Number 15

 

b. Operation time: Monday & Tuesday (8:00 am-1: 00 pm)

 Breast Clinic: Tuesday: (2.00 pm -5.00 pm)

 2. Patient (In Patient):

Surgical ward located at Angsana blocks at level 1, 2, and 3 (Ward 4, 5, & 6). This block has 93 beds of 50 beds for the discipline of ENT, Orthopaedics, Dental and Eye. Meanwhile at Cengal block consists of four levels of the children's surgery ward (Ward 15) and first class surgical wards (Ward 18)

 3. Surgery by surgeons, medical officers and nurse.

 4. Major surgery, minor, laparoscope endoscopy and surgery.

 5. Managing referrals to the unit or another hospital.

 6. Provide counselling to patients and next of kin.

 7. Managing bodies.

 8. Provides circumcision during school holidays.

 9. Training & Continued Medical Education (CME)

 10. Mortality Review every Monday at 2.00 pm to 3.30 pm.

 11. Topic presentation & discussion "on every Thursday to 2.00 pm to 3.45 pm.

 12. Lectures and practical training for medical students from local universities, especially colleges of Melaka-Manipal Medical College.

 13.Handling master student of medical surgical & Families (Supervisory body for Masters Program)
